It was lights, action, but no camera for late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel earlier this week. Kimmel, claiming that he’d lost power to his cameras and control room, busted out his handy MacBook and filmed an entire program, which aired last night, with the device’s built-in webcam.
Though Kimmel told the New York Times that this wasn’t a stealthy promotion, others wonder whether it was truly quick MacGyvering (pun intended) on Kimmel’s part, or just an attempt at garnering some publicity for Apple and himself. Either way, he succeeded in generating a bit of buzz for both.
